Businesses and the Commercial Sector
The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) provides a broad spectrum of cutting-edge research in the fields of material, coastal and environmental disciplines. As a result, the HZG’s portfolio of technology and invention is revolutionary and diverse. As complexity within these disciplines increases, use of such innovative technologies for business and industry is becoming increasingly vital.
The team "Innovations and Transfer", as intermediary between the commercial sector and HZG’s science, provides those interested with information on possible forms of collaboration and on the transfer of innovative technologies to the business realm. We are also glad to assist in establishing contact between researchers and businesses.

Technology Transfer Market
Here you’ll find current technology offers based on HZG expertise. We wish to provide information on selected innovative technologies with transfer potential.
If you are interested in the use or further development of these technologies towards a concrete application, let us know!
Bioresorbable magnesium material
HZG / C. Schmid
HZG researchers have developed a biodegradable implant material based on magnesium. This thereby renders a second surgery unnecessary, in which the implant would need to be removed. Further details can be found in our offer (217 KB)
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) with magnesium
HZG / C. Schmid
Small, intricately formed magnesium components produced using conventional processing technologies is very laborious. The greenhouse gas sulphur hexafluoride has so far been used for this purpose. There is now an environmentally friendlier alternative using the technology that has been developed. Further details can be found in our offer (208 KB)
Creating large TiAl components
HZG / C. Schmid
With their broad knowledge and their expertise in handling titanium aluminides (TiAl), HZG researchers have developed a method in which it is possible for the first time to create larger TiAl components. Further details can be found in our offer (223 KB)
Optimised Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis
HZG / PMV
Using the newest membrane technologies, Fischer-Tropsch plants could be optimised to obtain the highest possible yield in gas separation processes. To do so, a multi-step membrane system was developed, which is modular and can be adapted for specific requirements. Further details can be found in our offer (237 KB)
HZG / WMP
The Friction Riveting (FricRiveting) joining technology has been developed as a solution to perform similar and dissimilar polymer and hybrid metal-polymer or polymeric composite overlapping joints. Further details can be found in our offer (242 KB)
Diffusion brazing of TiAl parts
HZG / WPM
The diffusion brazing process of TiAl parts has been developed to function as a new standard process for high quality joining and repair. Further details can be found in our offer (356 KB)
The HZG is a member of the TransferAllianz and uses the Invention Store to provide information on selected innovative HZG technologies with high transfer potential.
