Towards a Joint European Research Infrastructure Network for Coastal Observatories

JERICO

Project timeline
Start:
May 2011
Duration:
48 months
End:
April 2015
General Information
Around European coastal seas, a fast increasing number of observing systems has been implemented, in the context of research and monitoring activities in oceanography. The JERICO project aims at creating a European network to coordinate activities and products, to share experiences, to exchange best practices, to build a solid and transparent organization towards an operational service for the timely, continuous and sustainable delivery of high quality environmental data and information products related to the marine environment in European coastal seas. This will give generic support to protect environment and biodiversity, understand climate change and better predict related impacts and facilitate the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
As an infrastructure project JERICO will provide access to coastal data and provide access to platforms (e.g. COSYNA) for international users.
