I’m a PhD student within CLICCS: C3 Sustainable Adaptation Scenarios for Coastal Systems
I’m studying the removal of reactive nitrogen in estuaries and coastal regions, depending on water column properties such as temperature, nitrogen loading and oxygenation. The focus of my research are the impacts of varying properties on nitrification and on the production of nitrous oxide due to internal nitrogen turnover processes. I use stable isotopes to investigate the turnover processes. My main study sites are the Elbe estuary and the Hamburg port region.
