I’m a biogeochemist with experiences in freshwater and marine systems (B.Sc. in Biogeosciences, M.Sc. in Biological Oceanography). Besides biogeochemical processes in transitional and coastal waters, I’m also very interested in communicating science and research to various audiences (M.Sc. in Science Communication).

After studying at four universities in three countries (Germany, Finland and Ireland), I worked mainly as a project and communications officer. In 2017, I joined the working group “Aquatic Nutrient Cycles” lead by Dr. Jana Friedrich at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Institute of Coastal Research, Germany. Together we coordinate the activities regarding the European research infrastructure initiative DANUBIUS-RI (International Centre for Advanced Studies on River-Sea Systems) in the Elbe-North Sea Supersite. In the current preparatory phase project DANUBIUS-PP, we are also leading the development of the Science and Innovation Agenda for DANUBIUS-RI.
