We want to see our innovations result in products!
The focus of research at the Centre for Biomaterial Development at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht in Teltow is on the development of innovative, polymer-based biomaterials for medical applications.
The spectrum of our product developments extends from cell-/tissue specific materials that can be used in regenerative medicine and in the field of tissue engineering to active implants for minimally invasive surgery, adsorber materials for filter systems, apheresis or other detoxification processes for use on bodily fluids outside the body, and intelligent drug delivery systems for the pharmaceutical industry.
Our innovations are being transferred to clinical practice. For this reason, we are in close contact with clinics – in particular, the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin – and industry in order to accelerate the development of our medical products.
We are entering into further co-operations with experienced industrial partners from the areas of medical technology, biotechnology and the pharmaceuticals sector in order to further develop our product candidates from a specific degree of development to market maturity. In addition, we also support customers from industry with specific questions in R&D projects.
