The Institute of Biomaterial Science in Teltow of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht and Berlin Brandenburg Centre for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT) invite applications for a Postdoc (m/f/d) Silicone Based Polymers with a focus on synthesis and characterization of multifunctional polymeric materials in the context of a project within the programme oriented funding. This is initially a 2-years fixed term contract and position should be filled as soon as possible.
The place of employment is Teltow (near Berlin, Germany).

Your Tasks:

Within this project we seek to develop novel silicone-based polymers for various applications, e.g. inks for 3D printing. You are responsible for the design, synthesis and characterization of monomers, precursor materials as well as polymers. Applicability of these materials in e.g. 3D printing application should be demonstrated.
You have the opportunity actively participate in the publication of the results, preparation of patents, and in attracting additional funding.

Your Profile:

You have PhD in macromolecular or material science, chemistry or polymer engineering, with a broad knowledge in the field of polymer synthesis, engineering and characterization. You have already gained experience in design, synthesis and characterization of silicone-based polymers as documented by a significant number of scientific publications. Additional knowledge in liquid-crystalline elastomers is an asset. You are eager to collaborate with material scientists, biologists, mechanical and electrical engineers as well as researchers from other disciplines to transfer your ideas to applications-based research.
