The Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS), an institution of the HZG, is looking for a PhD position (m/f) to support the scientific cooperation with the University of Hamburg research group on Agricultural Economics and Resource Management within the research unit Sustainability and Global Change. The „Integrative Modelling Lab“ will work on the analysis of impacts of global change at the local and regional scale through the creation of integrative models. These models will include knowledge from different sources to support science-based decision making under the frame of „action-able science“. The position is limited to three years. The place of employment is Hamburg.

The tasks will be:

  • elaboration of couple regional and local models
  • support of participatory processes
  • creation of a user-friendly interface of project products
  • research on system dynamics and implications for policy making

We expect you to:

  • have a degree preferably in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Ecological Economics or similar background
  • have experience in the use of System Dynamic Modelling will be an asset
  • have experience in modelling and programming will be an asset
  • have experience in participatory processes and stakeholder dialogues will be an asset
  • be highly motivated, proactive, self-reliant, assertive, with an excellent time-management
  • be able to work interdisciplinary connecting the work of different disciplines
  • be proficient in English and German
