Search for a certain publication
One starting point for the literature review is the library catalogue of Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. Here you may find books, CD-ROMs, print magazines etc.
Accessible online journals are only partially included. Members of Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht may borrow media from the library collection.
Literature, which is not present in the library, can be found through searches on regional and national library catalogues. We recommend the search on the Common Union Catalogue (GVK).You will find a selection of library catalogues on our site to the library catalogues.
Members of Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht may obtain literature via Interlibrary-Loan, in case the requested publication cannot be found in library stock.
Search for a certain journal
Print journals are listed in the library catalogue.
To search for electronic journal titles we recommend the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). The EZB offers fast, structured and standardized access to scientific and academic full text journals. Yellow or yellow/red dot means: HZG has a license for this journal. Titles marked with a red dot are not subscribed and usually not accessible. The green dot indicates that full texts are freely accessible.
Another important source is the journal database (ZDB OPAC). Here you will find references to journals and newspapers (including electronic ones) and other periodicals, but without articles. The publications in the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht Library inventory are listed under the names of the libraries where they are located ->

Search for literature on a specific topic
Monographs on a particular topic can be found by a search in the library catalog. Articles are not usually catalogued.
Therefore we recommend searching in databases such as "Web of Science", "Scopus" and "SciFinder".
The "Web of Science" contains the following databases: "Science Citation Index Expanded" (1899-present), "Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Science" (1990-present) and "Conference Proceedings Citation Index - Social Science & Humanities" (1990 -present). It contains bibliographical data with abstracts from 1900 until today; former Science Citation Index Expanded.
SCOPUS is a bibliographic database that evaluates 19,500 journals from 5000 publishers in the areas of knowledge science, technology and medicine (STM) as well as social sciences. Also, conference proceedings and book series are included in Scopus.
SciFinder (Chemical Abstracts) is the world's largest collection of chemical information. In addition, adjacent areas such as chemical engineering, material science and biotechnology are covered. An account for SciFinder you will get from the library.
Other databases, see the Database Information System (DBIS, German language).
