Diploma Student in the Climate System Department

Juliane Petersen Juliane Petersen

What kind of impact does forestry and other modifications of the land surface, have on local and regional climate, and how does this show up in climate models? Juliane Petersen works on these and other questions for her Diploma thesis, about the effects of adaptation measures, in the metropolis region of Hamburg. For this, she uses the regional climate model REMO, having already used the model to investigate the impacts of so called near surface parameters, during a two month internship at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology.
Juliane Petersen studied Geography in Greifswald and Berlin. She is currently working on her diploma thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Daniela Jacob, the head of the Climate System Department, and developer of the REMO model whilst at the Max Planck Institute.
