Reimund Schwarze

As head of the department „Economics and policy“ Prof. Dr. Reimund Schwarze deals with the economic impact of climate change and questions regarding international climate policies. With his team he develops strategies on how the risks of climate change, but also the opportunities, can effectively be tranferred to decision-makers from politics and economy but also to the broader public. He has been delegated for this task from the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research to develop and strenghen the research field of „Climate Change Economics“ in the Helmholtz Association's Regionale Climate Initiative (REKLIM). He lectures "International Environmental Economics" at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder. Before joining the CSC he worked on international emission trading on behalf of the German government and was part of the committee of enquiry of the German Bundestag for the protection of the people and the environment.
