From 2005 on Dr. Elke Keup-Thiel worked for the „Service Group Adaptation“ (SGA), which supports projects that strive to protect the climate respectively adapt to the climate changes. With her move to the Climate Service Center she still replies to a wide range of questions concerning the use and interpretation of regional climate model data. Decision-makers from science, economy and administration but also schoolkids and students are her clients. She graduated in the field of modelling of aerosols in the global climate model, but later concentrated on the regional climate model. For a project of the European Union she analyzed the consequences of climate change on the Barents sea. Doing so she gained first experience with multidisciplinary questions, i.e. what kind of impact the defrosting of perma-frost soil has on human beings and animals.
