Profile

Huvec Cells On Poly-n-butylacrylate Huvec Cells On Poly-n-butylacrylate

The Biointerface Engineering Group is taking all options to modify surfaces of polymer based implants.
Aim is the creation of implants with site specific cyto- and histocompatible interaction to tissues.

Surface processing

Surface processing and engineering as surface modification technologies include chemical and physical methods as well as approaches inspired by information transfer in biology.

Biomimicry

Biomimicry has the goal to generate templates that simulate physiological environments.
Well characterized components of the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) will be used to control adherence, differentiation and physiological function of specified cells.

Laser dissection

Laser dissection technology as one of the most recent and refined tools to gain ECM components in high purity and spatial resolution is applied for the characterization of the specific tissue environments of cells in focus.
Tissue characteristics are then used to modify polymer surfaces for optimized interaction with specific cells.
