Polymer Technology

The department provides the implementation of the material developments of the Institute of Polymer Research into industrial utilisation. The core competences are the transfer of new flat sheet membranes for gas and liquid phase separations from the development in the laboratory to pilot production, the testing of membranes with pure substances and mixtures, the design of separation processes, the development of membrane process and simulation tools, the design of modules and the operation of test devices up to pilot plant scale. The activities are conducted in close collaboration with national and international research institutions, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht licensees, industrial users, environmental agencies and authorities.
