Materials Physics
The division Materials Physics is operating instruments at large scale facilities for structural investigations of engineering materials and biomaterials and is working on the development and characterisation of novel light weight structural materials for the operation at high temperatures. The four groups are financed by the Helmholtz programmes AEM and PNI. The characterisation of materials is performed using neutrons and synchrotron radiation at GEMS with the outstations of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht at DESY and FRM II as well as with different electron microscopic methods.
