Fuel cells for physics and chemistry instruction
This day is devoted to the topic of "Electricity Generation and the Use of Renewable Energy Sources".
The topic is suitable for fifth and sixth form students. It is not important for students to be familiar with the fuel cells or for the subject to have been previously introduced in class. The necessary knowledge can be provided at the laboratory.
The course highlights various types of power generation: Electricity from generators and bicycle dynamos, as well as from sun, wind and water. Naturally, a key focus of the course is on storing energy in the form of hydrogen and on converting it into electricity in the fuel cell.
The experiments with fuel cells and the storage possibilities of hydrogen are directly linked to the scientific research conducted by Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht. Upon request, we will gladly organise tours of the labs of individual research departments.
We also offer the fuel cell project as a multi-day event or weekend course.
