Central Facilities
Common facilities for the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht staff include the Library and the Technical Centre (workshops) plus “Einsteinchen”, the research centre’s own kindergarten.
The German Engineering Materials Science Centre (GEMS) is a central user access platform, where Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht provides a worldwide unique infrastructure for complementary research with photons and neutrons.
The Technical Centre develops customized solutions for a whole range of requirements, ranging from software and hardware to the design and construction of complete experimental apparatus and pilot systems.
Many of the more than 50 trainees at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht complete a programme of certified vocational training at the Technical Centre.
In addition to its normal lending activities, the Library also assists with the procurement and provision of specialized literature and supplies bibliographical information.
